CSIRT teams and their role in security

National CSIRT of the Czech Republic

(Speakers: Andrea Kropacova, Petra Hochmannova)

The increasing number of information and communication technology users and critical services brings the increasing number of security incidents which have an adverse impact on the credibility of electronic services, thus slowing down the development of the digital society. Consequently, cyber security has become one of the priorities of network operators and electronic services providers and also the governments around the world. A certain shift in the perception of cyber security can also be observed in the conception of new organisations which adopt a proactive approach to the protection of the cyber space. Examples of these include the establishment of CERT/CSIRT teams across the world and the efforts to define these teams both in terms of their overall functions, services and cooperation.

The partners’ exhibition stands will be open in the foyer of the conference hall from 09:00 to 18:00. The bilateral meetings are scheduled to run from 12:40 to 17:00.

This was the 3rd year of our conference for all network engineers, peering coordinators, internet providers, cloud administrators, and data centre operators in Central and Eastern Europe hosted by NIX.CZ and VIX.at.

The conference was regularly attended by around 200 participants and supported by interesting sponsors from the Telecommunication and IT communities across Europe.

The programme included professional presentations, presentations by partners and sponsors, workshops, and we were once again dedicating a sizeable space to professional networking. Furthermore,  a new application to facilitate meetings, MeetingTool, was in development and was able.

The 2015 conference was planned as a two-day event in The Sheraton Bratislava Hotel and included a social evening in the centre of Bratislava on 18th March.
